Theatre UNB Presents Carthaginians
Patrons are advised that the play contains mature language and subject matter.
Carthaginians is directed by UNB Director of Drama Len Falkenstein. McGuinness???????? play is set more than a decade after Bloody Sunday in a Catholic graveyard in Derry. A group of men and women have gathered in the cemetery, believing the dead souls buried there are about to rise. As they keep their vigil, the characters, all outsiders and outcasts whose lives have been touched either directly or indirectly by the violence of Bloody Sunday, tell jokes, share stories, and come together to perform a play called The Burning Balaclava that is a hilarious send up of the Troubles. Through laughter, community, and the telling of searing truths, the characters come to individual healing and atonement.
